Ski mountaineering distances

Athletes start in groups of 4 -6 people. The race for one group lasts no more than five minutes. According to the results of the races, the winning athletes advance to the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals of the tournament.
Individual race
In the 2025 season, there will be one distance.
Vertical race
The athlete's task is to cover the distance from 400 to 700 meters vertically (depending on the category) in the shortest possible time. That is, the race consists only of lifting. From the point of view of amateur sports, vertical racing can be considered the most athletic discipline, since the only thing required of the participant is to quickly climb up.
For a vertical race, choose a prepared slope. The winner is the one who crosses the finish line first. Participants run without additional cargo, and the helmet is not a mandatory piece of equipment in this discipline. The race is similar to the "vertical kilometer" in skyrunning.
Skyrunning distance
SkySnow Vertical Vertical Race
Winter version of the vertical skyrunning race, where at least 70% of the track must be covered with snow. The goal is to cover the distance faster than your opponents. The race is held on a specially prepared ski slope. Athletes move only upwards, gaining up to 1000 meters and running no more than 5 kilometers in total.
Recommended equipment — trekking or ski poles, microshoes, or sneakers with spikes and deep tread.
Competition days and reserve days
Arkhyz is an area of heavy snowfall. Due to the danger of avalanches, the resort may close both the upper cable car stations and the entire resort. As a result, the organizer will be forced to either lay the tracks at a lower altitude or cancel the start due to bad weather. Therefore, we set aside 3 days for the competition, so that there is a possibility of postponing the competition. Please keep this in mind when planning your trip.
Attention!
Mandatory equipment for the individual race includes: avalanche sensor, shovel and dipstick. The participant ** must be able to usetheir avalanche equipment and ** have an understanding of the principles of searching for people caught in an avalanche.

WHAT IS SKI MOUNTAINEERING?
Ski mountaineering (abbreviated to skimo) is a skiing discipline that involves climbing mountains either on skis or carrying them, depending on the steepness of the ascent, and then descending on skis.
Competitive ski mountaineering is typically a timed racing event that follows an established trail through challenging winter alpine terrain while passing through a series of checkpoints. Racers climb and descend under their own power using backcountry skiing equipment and techniques.
